Ashley

I have been in back to back relationships my entire life up until my most recent breakup, and was struggling to move on or find meaning in life.

Ashley, US

The real problem

You know it hurts. So why can’t you let go?

You check their profile, reread old messages, and replay every signal. You know it is keeping you stuck, but in the moment checking feels like relief.

Knowing the connection is unhealthy has not been enough. Their attention is still the fastest way your body knows to feel okay.

  • Your mood belongs to them

One reply lifts you. One silence ruins the day. Their attention has become emotional oxygen.

  • Everything else is falling apart

You’re losing sleep, work, friendships, and self-respect because of their mixed signals.

You are not alone

There’s a name for this: Limerence. It’s a pattern your brain learned. And it’s not your fault.

Here’s how it shows up:

You think about them all day long

Ordinary moments keep getting hijacked by the same person and story.

You wait all day for their attention

A message or sign becomes the thing that decides whether you feel okay.

You analyze every single signal

Every silence, like, and memory turns into evidence for hope or rejection.

You keep finding new reasons to hope

A memory, coincidence, or tiny sign becomes proof that the story may not be over.

What is limerence?

Limerence is when you cannot stop thinking about someone because you never know where you stand with them.

The uncertainty keeps pulling you back, even when the connection hurts.

A reply, memory, profile check, or fantasy gives you brief relief. Your brain learns to chase the next signal whenever discomfort rises.

And even though you know the connection is hurting you, you still wait for their text. Your body chases hope before your mind remembers the pain.

You are not weak or broken. You simply lack the awareness, practice, and support. And when your nervous system tries to heal itself, it gets trapped seeking comfort from the same person causing the pain.

The good news

Your healing does not depend on what they do next.

You do not need one final answer, message, or apology to begin getting your attention, boundaries, and emotional steadiness back.

This is what your healed self looks like:

Your mind finally gets quiet

You can move through a day without every empty moment becoming a thought about them.

You stop chasing temporary relief

A silence, profile view, or old memory no longer decides what you do next.

You learn to trust yourself again

Your boundaries stop becoming negotiable whenever the discomfort rises.

Your own life expands again

Your energy returns to friendships, purpose, routines, and a future that is yours.

Decision time

Healing begins with one decision.

Do you want to spend the rest of your life letting their silence decide how you feel?

Or would you rather make this the year your attention and future belong to you again?

Why Unfixated exists
Nour, Founder of UnfixatedElisa, Trauma & attachment psychologist

Why does Unfixated exist?

Hi, I’m Nour

I’m the founder of Unfixated. And just like you, I know what it is like to become completely consumed by one person.

I struggled with limerence, anxious attachment, and never feeling like I was enough. I kept losing myself in relationships.

Eventually, I had enough. I studied psychology at the University of Amsterdam, hired a confidence coach, and immersed myself in everything I could find about love and happiness.

I built a framework that helped me quiet the obsession, feel secure, and come back to myself.

And after helping more than 3,000 people understand their patterns and build healthier relationships, that work now became Unfixated.

What actually works

Three things that make letting go possible.

Awareness pulls you out of autopilot. Practice makes the new response daily. Support holds you steady when it feels like too much.

1

The awareness that breaks the trance

Most of the loop runs on autopilot. We train you to catch it mid-urge, in that one conscious moment where you can still choose.

2

The practice that rewires the habit

Know exactly what to do every single day, until pausing and returning to yourself becomes the habit instead of chasing relief.
